Our Long Anticipated Trip Of The Year!

Our long anticipated trip of the year to Turkey! Just look at the two pink bears checking in at a very familiar airport!

For this trip, we engaged on a tour agency to show us around turkey as the package offered at that time was a steal considering all inclusive of return flight, accommodation, food and tour. The only non-inclusive will be the hot air balloon ride at Cappadocia. More on this in our future blogpost 😁

Some Random Shots At KLIA Airport

In Flight

It was our first time boarding the Turkish Airline, midnight flight with seating capacities filled. Once we settled ourselves, we try to get some needed rest as much as we possibly can before touching down Istanbul Airport.

In Flight Menu of The Day

Time to review the menu available in flight! Let’s see how it fares in terms of deliciousness 😛

This was also our first flight to be able to request our drinks to be an alcoholic ones to pair with our meal. As each person only limited to one small bottle of wine, we decided to get both red and white wine to share among ourselves.

With that aside, let’s review the food we ordered!

Grilled Salmon

At first glance, the grilled salmon is the one that looks quite appetizing as compared to the pasta which we will review after this. This dish was ordered by le wife and the salmon tasted really good!

Verdict: 7/10! Overall is a nice salmon dish, paired with risotto, uff so nice!

Penne Pasta With Pesto Sauce

From the initial look of the pasta, it was not the most appetizing. True enough, the pasta tasted bland and that’s about it.

Verdict: 4/10! Overall it was my instant regret taking the pasta. The salmon tasted so much better!

Both side dishes comes with Hummus (A popular middle eastern savory dish), Chocolate Cake, Chicken Caesar’s Salad with a free Bun with butter. Among these side dishes, me personally love the Hummus in particular, the rest of it is just alright.

Before Landing – Smoked Turkey Cheese Toast

The smoked turkey cheese toast and scrambled eggs tasted alright, just the assorted cheese does not suit my palate and very hard to describe the taste and texture of it in writing. In the end, I just gave up on the cheese and continue on with finishing other side dishes.

Verdict: 6/10! Overall it was an alright dish minus the assorted cheese as it tasted weird for me.

Istanbul Airport

Journey from KLIA to Istanbul Airport took approximately 11 hours long and tiring! Unfortunately, we found that one of our baggage is broken after claiming them at the baggage reclaim carousel🥲

Luckily, our tour guide was swift to direct me to the respective baggage claim counter under Turkish Airline to report for broken luggage.

The process to file a broken baggage claim was very straightforward. Staffs asked some questions, fill in the necessary report form, then replace my broken baggage with a new similar sized luggage.

Though the quality of the baggage is very questionable compared to the broken baggage of ours, I was hoping that it could last as long as it can till we go back to Malaysia.

After the unfortunate events are settled, we finally have the chance to enjoy the huge Istanbul Airport! It was beautiful!

Our Takeaways?

Though the downside during the flight journey was realizing that we have a broken baggage upon arrival, we are very thankful that we spotted it and managed to claim a new one before we continue our journey to tour Turkey.

Overall the flight experience was a tiring 11 hour long flight journey, our energy levels shoots up high again once we step out of the airport, looking forward in our upcoming itinerary in Turkey!
