Brunch With The Love, Le Scone Hunting
Brunch with the love, scone hunting, at “The Smokehouse”, again! 🤣
Our main goal for the day is to try out one of the nicest scones available. So we decided to give “The Smokehouse” another go as we both love the romantic ambience during our candle light dinner the night before.
Brunch With The Love – The Smokehouse
The restaurant at that timing we went was filled with lunch crowds and we have to wait for a moment before manage to get into the restaurant. Though the seating area we wanted was to be by the window side which we did not get, we are very grateful that our wait did not turn out to be a long one.
As we learnt previously that the food portion is huge, we decided to order one main course, one afternoon tea set and one starter to not filled ourselves with too much food.
Starter
Scotch Broth Soup
A starter soup that le wife ordered. For me this soup does not suit my palate as I felt that the “smell” of the lamb meat was too strong.
However on le wife end, she likes the soup as it has strong fragrance with all the spices and nice to drink on a chilling weather.
Verdict: 5/10. The soup was not suitable for my palate. However, my wife likes it but she said the soup could be better🤣
The Afternoon Tea Set – Devonshire Cream Tea
Devonshire Cream Tea comes with 2 scones with homemade strawberry preserve and cream along with a tea set.
The scones were freshly made upon order. Mix together with their strawberry preserve and cream, it was as if all of them complements together so well that we almost ordered another tea set, just for the scones!
As I remembered, the scones that le wife brought back from Cameron previously for me long time ago, the texture was hard and weird making it difficult to eat and that puts me off the first time I tried it.
Verdict: 8/10. The scones from “The Smokehouse” have successfully converted a non-scone lover me into raving for it!
Main Course
Spaghetti Bolognese
Spaghetti Bolognese, as we thought this will be a simple straightforward dish, we were both wrong!
The Bolognese sauce is generously packed with minced meat. On top of that, this dish comes with a small bowl of cheese powder for us to sprinkle onto the spaghetti for different flavor profile taste.
It also comes together with the garlic toast and we felt the taste was good but nothing extraordinary.
Verdict: 7/10. We were mind blown by this simple dish. Especially when sprinkled with powder cheese, it just elevates the flavor even more that made us addicted to want to have more!
Some Touristy Shots
Pasar Malam (Night Market) Brinchang
Pasar Malam Brinchang, pretty close to our chalet stay, we decided to go visit and at the same time, grab some dinner after the cold pouring rain stopped.
We were not sure was it due to the Ramadhan month, stalls were not as many as we anticipated with them selling repetitive foods and items.
Some Touristy Shots
Nevertheless, these are some of the foods we brought from the Night Market back to the chalet. Some fried food, burger, satay and rice.
Our Takeaways?
Our first scone hunting in Cameron proves to be a very successful one. Never in my mind thought that these scones, albeit just one scone each, could convert me from a non scone lover into a scone lover!
Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the night market, stalls were repetitive, pricing for the food was in “tourist price” which we felt it does not justify the quality of food tasting experience.
If it is your first time visiting the night market, then we will recommend to go visit the night market for the experience only.
