Light Up A Candle, Watch The Fire Burn Passionately

Light up a candle, watch the fire burn passionately. Enjoying our time together on our first ever candle light dinner at “The Smokehouse”. Though of course, we left our two pink bears to play around in the room at the chalet while we both enjoying our dating moment together 😛

The Smokehouse

Luck is on our side as we made our dinner reservations to “The Smokehouse” at the very last minute as our plan is to follow the flow. Read more here: One Trip Not Enough

Though last minute dinner reservations is not recommended, we were able to do it is due to the timing we went which was during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Garden

Stepping into the smokehouse, due to the reservations made, we get to enjoy a small walk around their beautiful garden while waiting for our table to be ready.

The buildings around the smokehouse emits a cottage vibe surrounded by heaps of greeneries with birds chirping making us feel at ease.

Some shots taken around the beautiful garden view.

Table for Two Please ✌️

Throughout our years of relationship together, we have never treated ourselves to a romantic candle light dinner. Often times our usual go to place for food is going for something economical and occasionally spoil ourselves with nicer place once or twice a month.

This round, we made sure we bring our own red wine to dine in together there. Only with this occasion, we’re able to open this red wine, else we would not know when will be the next time we are going to open it 😂

Le wife
Oh hello there 😛

We ordered two appetizer (French Onion & Mushroom Soup) and main course (Roast Tenderloin of Beef & Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Chicken)!

Appetizer

French Onion Soup

french onion soup

The French onion soup, topped with a layer of bread covered with toast cheese which is hot and packs with flavor perfect for the chilling weather! They did not skimp on the ingredients where they really put in quite a lot of onions in that soup.

Verdict: 6/10. Overall not the best onion soup that we have tasted but it is still good!

Mushroom Soup

mushroom soup

The mushroom soup is not our conventional mushroom soup that comes pre-made in a can. From the taste, we knew it was made fresh upon order. Similar with the onion soup, they did not skimp with the ingredients as well as we can taste the mushrooms and other herbs along with a nice touch of garlic bread on the soup.

Verdict: 8/10. For this, we got to give this the best mushroom soup we have tasted so far.

Main Course

Roast Tenderloin Beef & Yorkshire Pudding

beef tenderloin

Ordered for medium well for the steak but served medium rare. They did change it right after we informed them. Overall the steak is juicy and tender, the vegetables a bit disappointed with the taste like it was boiled with chlorine water.

Verdict: 7/10. The dish and presentation was not as up to expectation for the price we paid.

Roast Chicken

The roast chicken is a little bit on the drier side. However, the taste of it more than makes up for it. I liked the single meat roll side dish, just hope that they could have added another one more rather than two huge potatoes.

Verdict: 7/10. Overall the roast chicken is a little bit too dry for our liking.

Some touristy shots

Overall the whole dining experience was excellent, we did not expect the food portion to be generously huge! A single main dish is sufficient to be shared with two person. So do take note when you plan on dining at “The Smokehouse”.
